Rendore has had a long and violent history due to its close proximity to the humanoid lands to the Northwest. It is a war ravaged realm at almost a constant state of military readiness with an active and highly efficient militia. National pride has always been strong in Rendore and even the lowliest of peasants knows how to effectively handle a variety of weapons since they have known war their entire lives.

Rendore is a land divided along its north-south axis. The north is by far the most battle hardened. The folk in the northern provinces are generally suspicious and perhaps a little paranoid. They know almost no other lifestyle other than the military and the population centers are mainly built around citadels and castles as opposed to cities. The folk in the southern provinces are a bit more friendly and the land tends to be a bit more fertile. Most of the farming is done the in regions in the southeast. In all, the military is the largest employer in the kingdom and many peasant families will send one or more children into service as an extra source of income.

In a land with such a great familiarity with combat, magic in the region has also become highly specialized. Most spellcasters tend to favor more practical battle magic over other forms of spellcasting. The schools of evocation and abjuration are the two most highly prized and rewarded. Transmutation and conjuration also tend to popular choices. Very few spellcasters will even bother with spells of illusion, divination, enchantment or necromancy. This increased specialization has led to the development of the "War Mages." The War Mages are composed of two elite units. The Battlemages focus on offensive evocation/invocation magic while the Shieldmages concentrate on protective abjuration magic. Combined, they are a powerful force to be reckoned with. All major citadels and strongholds throughout the northern regions of Rendore will have a small cadre of these War Mages who are looked at with high reknown by the general population.

Rumors: The cult of Jocasta has been growing increasingly more powerful over the years, particularly in the north. It is rumored that an underground church has developed beneath the streets of Solovar and the church has been gaining more and more converts. Numerous sightings of undead prowling the Withering Wood to the east have been reported by the hearty woodmen of that region. Can the increased numbers of undead have anything to do with Kravelax the Defiler, the noble verdant dragon of the Withering Wood?
