The Peregrine Isles are a small kingdom dedicated to the Cult of Khorsa, the god of the winds. It is a heavily mountainous realm of coastal cities and highland aeries dominated by the majestic Weathercrest Mountains. Here the humans, aarokacra and the kenku have lived together in relative harmony and have done so for generations. Each species lives exclusively, separated from the others controlling a small portion of the islands but all swear allegiance to the human king and the royal family. Much of the peasant population spend their time fishing, raising sheep and mountain goats, and sustaining an elaborate system of terrace farms. The land, although not very fertile, enjoys reasonable temperatures year round.

The island is defended by a unique knightly order known as the Griffin Knights, a martial order of fighting men and women who ride griffins and hurl javelins with deadly accuracy. It is said that the riders develop an empathic link to their mount and can communicate via a limited form of telepathy. The military also supports a number of slightly less proficient soldiers trained to ride a number of giant birds of prey indigenous to the island including giant hawks, giant owls and giant eagles.

Peregrine is the home to the small order of wizards calling themselves the Windriders. These beings are all specialist air elementalists who dwell in remote citadels high in the mountains of Weathercrest. The more powerful of the wizards are said to be served by a staff of aerial servants and can command small bands of air elementals to defend their strongholds. They are all highly knowledgable in powerful weather control magic.

Rumors: Each of the major cities of Peregrine are said to be protected by a magical anti-storm bell. These devices, created by the Windriders, possess the power to control the weather around the city and keep the powerful oceanic storms from causing any real damage inland. A powerful white dragon and a number of evil frost giants are said to dwell somewhere in the northern reaches of the central mountains.
