Glorwenia is an independent clerical state controlled by the church of Auralia, the goddess of the dawn. As such, it has traditionally been a realm of serenity, goodwill and healing. The prelacy also maintains good relations with the Kingdom of Rendore but has rarely send aid in terms of military support. The Auralites are the most numerous religion and the officially sanctioned faith but all Glorwenians are free to worship as they please.

The history of Glorwenia has not always been rosy, however, and has the taint of dark times particularly during the years of the inquisitions that resulted in the exodus of many of the prelacy's powerful arcane spellcasters. The unfortunate events of the inquisition were sparked by the assassination of a former prelate during a religious pilgrimage to Chapelshire to visit the shrine of the Morningstar. The Keepers of the Dawn traced the crime to a foul coven of necromancers and had them all burned at the stake save for two who were said to have escaped north into the Withering Woods. Following this dreadful crime, the populace grew fearful of wizards and sorcerers not knowing who could be trusted. Many were seen as spies, anarchists or even heretics.

These days have long since past of course and many spellcasters once again call the sanctity of Glorwenia home, but there are some who still fear any outward display of magic and so many spellcasters keep flashy effects to a minimum, at least in public.

Rumors: Many evil cults, particularly those of Mordagh, would love nothing more than to drive the Auralites into extinction and take control of the country. A minor, yet growing, cult said to worship the demon Jezrak, has been slowly gaining a foothold in the capital city of Fairwind. A werewolf has been seen prowling the hills in the northern provinces along the southern ridge of the Withering Wood.
