Eileania is an ancient elven realm devoted to the goddess Namarie as well as the other members of the elvish pantheon. The elves of this island kingdom follow a devout life of mysticism and meditation. Although technically a monarchy, the elven clergy hold great influence in the Royal Court of the Overqueen making the isle a theocracy. Elvish mythology claims that the island is the original birthplace of the First Ones, the original elves of Hyerune, and so these lands hold a special and endearing relationship to the elvish people as well as the fey folk. The island itself enjoys quite pleasant and temperate weather throughout most of the year with moderate rainfall. Summers are generally warm and winters are short yet cold with only modest snowfall during Winterheart and Coldstead.

Eileania has historically been a matriarchy with a reigning female ruler taking the title of Overqueen of the Elves. The Overqueen will generally take a male consort sometime during her reign who receives the title of "Prince Consort" but holds no political power in the government. The island has been dominated by the elves for so long that many of the laws tend to favor their kind above others. This has evolved into a form of elitism among the elven populace and the non-elves seem to just accept this notion as a fact of life. In fact, no person of non-elven blood may even enter the capital city of Highgrove since it is considered sacred ground by the priestesses and priests of Namarie. The city walls and gates are well warded and protected against any intrusion. Petitioners of the queen must be presented during one of her trooping journeys around the island or in the sub-capital of Andoras where most of the humans of the island dwell. Furthermore, only elves may own land in Eileania, though they find the very notion of "owning" a part of the land ridiculous. They view themselves as "caretakers" and the non-elves simply lease or occupy the space with their lord or lady's permission.

Rumors:The island of Eileania itself is shrouded in mystery. It is said there are a number of entrances to the underground world of Darkhold hidden throughout the island in secluded locations. It is widely believed that several magical gateways to the realm of the faeries also exist. Finally, it is whispered that a good-aligned dragon of unknown species, possibly a noble, dwells in the forested highlands. The dragon is said to view itself as a caretaker of the elves and watches over them and protects them. This has never been confirmed by the general populace and those in authority simply pass off such questions as simple fables. The island is also home to many magical beasts including several herds of unicorns as well as most of the various faerie races.
