Coronar is a dwarven realm of great wealth. It is the only known source of a unique metal called "luminite," the star metal, a luminous silvery-white metal stronger than steel that glows a pale blue when exposed to starlight. The dwarves of the realm mine the mineral in the Dawnstar Mountains, process it and ship to to Anchorwell where it can be sold at a great profit. The metal is said to come from fragments of numerous meteroites that slammed into the mountain range ages ago. The exact locations of these mines is a carefully guarded secret and the mines themselves are well guarded and protected against magical detection and intrusion. The land is a semi-tropical climate with long, hot summers and short, rainy winters. The soil is not as fertile as other nations and so the folk of Coronar rely on the mining industry more than anything.
In addition to it mineral wealth, Coronar is also known for its Royal School of Navigation in Karadhas and what is commonly called the "Brine Barrier." The Brine Barrier is a natural wall of dense coral reef that forms a breakwall along much of the entrance into Anchorwell Bay. The barrier limits access into the bay and is highly defensible. The bay is home is a small tribe of lizardfolk and a community of merfolk. Several citadels are laid out across the Brine Barrier as are a number of ancient lighthouses used to guide incoming and outgoing shipping traffic.
The Pashate of Coronar is a land bustling with adventure possibilities. The Dawnstar Mountains are known to be inhabited by dragons, giants and many tribes of orcs and other foul humanoids. The occasional griffin can also be spotted soaring overheard searching for food. The capital city of Anchorwell is a hive of intrique and potential dangers. The city is a busy port with ships coming and going at all hours, some for unscrupulous reasons.
Rumors: The pasha has been receiving troubling reports about increased activity by well-organized thrieves in Karadhas, possibly rogues from the Brimstone Isles. It is rumored that they are attempting to disrupt the kingdom's mining operations and put a strangle hold on the flow of luminite. In an unrelated incident, a small silver mine in the northwest of the Dawnstars has suddenly stopped production of the metal and has failed to respond to magical communications. A governmental official was dispatched to make inquiries and she has reported that the mine is deserted and many of the outlying structures were destroyed by large boulders. A recent trade fair with the merfolk of Anchorwell Bay has produced most disturbing news. The merfolk have spotted sahuagin spies in the bay recently. The spies escaped capture and lost their pursuers once they got past the Brine Barrier.
