Celairia is an elf realm nestled between the Vanguard Hills and the Wild Wood. The Kingdom enjoys a moderate climate year round with long, warm summers and short, wet winters. It has long been a haven of the fair elves though the elves tend to be rather distrustful of humans. Having such a close proximity to the Meridian Empire, the elves of Celairia have had to fend off a number of skirmishes and attempts at expansion during the imperialist phases when Meridia was at its zenith. Most of the elves of Celairia tend to be rather elitist and view non-elves as boorish and rather common. Humans in particular are view as not much most evolved than the neaderthal. The royal court in Brightmoon tends to be rather provincial in its dealings with outside realms.
After the Sundering War of Meridia and the break up of that once mightiest of realms, the elves have been able to relax their vigilance along the Silvertine River. Word at court tells that several of the more influential southern nobles are trying to persuade Her Venerable Majesty to sponsor a massive building campaign in order to erect a defensive perimeter along the Meridia-Celairian border. Currently, more conservative voices, who argue against the enormous strain such a project would have on the treasury, have prevailed. Many of the northern nobles also have their own agenda and want to see more open borders to Pheldore to increase the flow of trade and to strengthen diplomatic ties with the halfling prince of that realm. Such an alliance may prove beneficial to all in the long run.
Celairia is also well known for its corps of rangers. The rangers have long patrolled the eastern frontier along the Wild Wood and have led defensive operations against no fewer than two humanoid incursions. They are often aided in this task by a Council of Elven Druids known as the Circle of Wild Wood.
Rumors: There has been little activity along the southern borders of Celairia since the Sundering War however an increase in activity from the Ironhorn Mountains to the West has begun to alarm some of the smaller communities along the Vanguard Hills. Increased sightings of humanoids as well as a number of giants has been confirmed by several scouting missions sent to investigate.
