Ancaire is a wealthy dwarven realm along the peninsula southwest of the Mystic Mountains. The dwarves of Ancaire, descendents of the House of Durin, have long been miners of the valuable ores and gemstones as well as precious metals that seem to be in abundance in the rocky terrain of this land. The country itself is rather arid and rocky and not very conducive to farming. The land sees little precipitation throughout the year and enjoys mild temperatures even during the winter months.

Ancaire is divided in numerous principalities of varying size all swearing allegiance to the Dwarf King. The military is highly trained and considered practically fearless against most enemies. The kingdom also maintains a large fleet of merchant ships and a navy augmented with merchant marines to protect their commodities. They are a major trading partner with the Aldimiran Empire.

Rumors: A powerful dwarven wizardess from the Mystic Mountains calling herself the Daughter of the Mountain has been most active as of late recruiting mercenaries from all walks of life. Royal spies have been observing the construction of an impressive citadel of stone high in the mountains east of Axestone. Pirate raiders, probably from the Brimstone Isles, have been hijacking merchant ships and quickly disappearing with the stolen cargo into thick fog banks. Rumors have been trickling into Verengar that these pirates have been receiving illicit aid from renegate wizards of the Undine Isle.
